Gisselle Cuomo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1961. Her family were immigrants from Itlay and they came to South America after the First World War. Gisselle was raised by her grandparents as her father had to emigrate to Australia for political reasons. When she was 12 years old she experienced the transition of Uruguay to a brutal dictatorship after the military coup in 1973.

She started to study psychology in Uruguay and she got her first degree in Psychology in 2000. She worked in several psychiatric hospitals in Uruguay such Musto and Vilardebo in Montevideo, delivering a wide range of clinical practice.

At the time when Gisselle completed her clinical Masters Degree in 2002, Uruguay experienced a severe economic recession and so she decided to emigrate to Barcelona, Spain, where she started to study to convert her qualifications so that she could practice as a clinician in Spain, specialising in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology. She practiced for several years as a clinician in Barcelona and in 2007 she moved to the USA for a short time. She then returned to Barcelona and in 2011 she moved to the UK and she obtained a further Masters Degree in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology in the University of South Wales, again so that she could practice as a clinician in a new country. She worked in the UK as a Lead Clinical Psychologist at several psychiatric hospitals.

Through her extensive clinical practice, Gisselle was inspired to write a book that would include the interventions which she had found to be successful with her patients. She started writing this book during the covid pandemic that broke out in 2020. Nowadays she is working in a private practice as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and she is working on other books.
